Tree Pests and Diseases Identification and Management

Tree Pests and Diseases Identification Reports from £260 Total UK Wide.

All Arboriculture provide full tree pests and diseases identification and management. This is provided either as part of a broader tree survey or as a stand-alone service.

The identification of tree pests and diseases and other relevant organisms is of paramount importance if appropriate management is to be undertaken.

Whilst few associated organisms should be viewed as being significantly detrimental to tree health & safety, some require certain controls and management policies, and all require a suitably experienced and considered appraisal.

Examples of tree diseases and pests would be:

  • Fungi – some of which infect the tree and degrade the wood, perhaps altering a trees structural integrity. Others may lead to a decline in health, such as Hymenoscyphus fraxineus (prev. Chalara fraxinea), which is responsible for Ash Dieback
  • Insects – some cause only minor, aesthetic damage, whilst others can have serious consequences
  • Bacteria – some bacterial infections can lead to physiological decline, such as that responsible for Horse Chestnut Bleeding Canker

It is inevitable that occasionally infection by certain pathogens can lead to the unavoidable loss or structural compromise of a mature tree; however intervention, treatment, or removal should only ever follow an appropriate assessment of what is often a complex relationship between the tree, the disease, and its environment.

All Arboricultures progressive approach to tree management allows our recommendations to be guided by modern arboricultural research and practice – individual treatments for individual trees, individual tree diseases, and individual situations.
